The challenge

In today's business world, the existence of data-based decision support is essential. According to the traditional approach, the construction and technical adaptation of this is coupled with expensive tools with license and hardware costs, which reduces the scope for maneuver afterwards and forces the given organization into a one-way street in terms of both technology and service partner.

The solution

The AWS Data portfolio offers one of the industry’s most modern solution packages in the field of data processing, analytics and visualization, based on existing open source products and technologies developed from them. The construction of a data lake can be started with the help of AWS S3 service, in a proportional model, with an initial cost of up to a cent of a dollar, during which our data can be cataloged and searched using distributed Mapreduce-based technologies. AWS offers the Redshift data warehouse technology for storing structured data, which can easily operate with Petabyte-level volumes thanks to the column-based storage technology. Both the Data lake and the data warehouse can be used with serverless technologies, which enables completely usage-based pricing, so we don’t have to pay for expensive storage and processing clusters 24 hours a day, only when queries are running on our data. The technologies used are charged with practically zero license fees, only the computing capacity and storage space running under them are charged, so compared to a traditional 3rd party application, we can get operating costs that are orders of magnitude lower.
TC2 can also provide expertise in the planning, implementation and operation of serverless data services based on proven best practices.

24/7 Managed Services

Although operation and support go hand in hand, ensuring the proper and efficient functioning of the system does not require 24/7 service, in contrast to support, whose failure-related tasks - troubleshooting, fault escalation, problem management, disaster prevention - require high availability due to their criticality. And of course, a 24/7 on-call support according to ITIL regulations requires at least 5 qualified support professionals due to the 3 shifts, vacations, and illnesses. And the majority of customers rarely have this number of employees, especially in the field of cloud-based computing, which is still new today but is emerging.

SAP on AWS

SAP systems play a key role in the everyday processes of many companies worldwide. They require special hardware and extremely high availability being business-critical systems. With the introduction of the SAP HANA database and the retirement of SAP support for alternative databases, it will be essential for hundreds of companies to switch platforms in the next 5-10 years. However, this can be a risky project in a traditional environment because of the magnitude of hardware estimation, acquisition, and lifecycle tracking.
