Well Architected Review

01

The challenge

The side effect of the flexibility and agility provided by AWS, and of creating a "self service" infrastructure that ignores precise concepts, in many cases is that although our system is working, it is not optimally designed in terms of cost efficiency, performance, IT or operational security. Identifying and performing these optimizations during the life cycle of a cloud application is of utmost importance, so that the efficiency and TCO of our application can be continuously improved and the server platform infrastructure can be adapted to changing conditions.

02 - The solution

02

The solution

The AWS Well-Architected Framework (WAFW) is a methodological tool for companies that have already moved to the cloud to get a snapshot of how well the cloud services they use comply with AWS best practices.
The WAFW methodology, provided free of charge by AWS and natively integrated into TC2’s services, draws attention to the cloud points to be developed, where we can achieve the maximum development effect in cloud operation. AWS WAFW is an elaborate rulebook based on industry knowledge, using which we immediately learn about the areas we need to deal with. The method not only helps to identify pain points, but also categorizes and ranks them, so we can always deal with the most urgent problem.
We can also follow the acceleration of the technological change cycle using the AWS WAFW methodology. For customers with TC2 support contract, this review takes place either every three months, every six months or every year, taking into account the business process, needs and dynamics of the given company.

24/7 Managed Services

Although operation and support go hand in hand, ensuring the proper and efficient functioning of the system does not require 24/7 service, in contrast to support, whose failure-related tasks - troubleshooting, fault escalation, problem management, disaster prevention - require high availability due to their criticality. And of course, a 24/7 on-call support according to ITIL regulations requires at least 5 qualified support professionals due to the 3 shifts, vacations, and illnesses. And the majority of customers rarely have this number of employees, especially in the field of cloud-based computing, which is still new today but is emerging.

SAP on AWS

SAP systems play a key role in the everyday processes of many companies worldwide. They require special hardware and extremely high availability being business-critical systems. With the introduction of the SAP HANA database and the retirement of SAP support for alternative databases, it will be essential for hundreds of companies to switch platforms in the next 5-10 years. However, this can be a risky project in a traditional environment because of the magnitude of hardware estimation, acquisition, and lifecycle tracking.
